They enjoyed helping countless people and organizations through their selfless generosity. They traveled together with groups from Hope College and Words of Hope around the globe, and they enjoyed taking their children and grandchildren on trips including Mexico, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Bill's hobbies included woodworking, gardening, reading, cooking delicious Italian food and teaching his children his recipes.
She was always available to her sons, loved them fiercely, and raised them to love and care for others. Her sons feel that what is good in them came from Cathy and Greg. Cathy married Greg Robinson over 43 years ago and they created many beautiful memories together, the most valued being around their sons and partners, their family members, and their friends. Cathy battled numerous health issues and Greg always said that it was an honor to be by her side during those difficult times. The two of them were inseparable and an inspiration to us all. Everyone treated us with kindness and was willing to assist us in any way possible.

Bill and Carol bought and operated the established Rainbow's End Ice Cream and Balloon Shoppe from 1984 until the mid-1990s and loved the many repeat customers they met during that time. Cathy’s undergraduate degree was from Northern Michigan University and she held a graduate degree in journalism from the University of Michigan. After graduate school, she worked as a journalist for a short time before devoting her love and energy to raising four sons. WHTC called him several times to come back and, while Janesville was a nice community, they knew Holland would be a nicer place to raise a family. Bill returned to his program director role at WHTC in May 1959 and brought from Janesville the idea of the Talk of the Town show.
